I don’t imagine health secretary Andrew Lansley will have a very relaxing summer holiday this year.

Parliament has gone into recess and MPs are scurrying off to their constituencies and holiday homes as we speak, but it looks like Mr Lansley may well be spending the summer dealing with possibly the fiercest criticism yet of his Health Bill.

White Paper will end the division between primary and secondary care

Yet another thing that will surely come to an end under the
White Paper reforms is the Great Wall that stands between general practice and
hospital care.

 

For 60 years the barrier has remained intact, bolstered by
prejudice and petty resentments, untouched by so many health service

Healthcare Republic reports on Wednesday that GP commissioning will be voluntary initially, according to a GP and member of the Conservative party clinical advisory committee.

 

It’s an opinion in sharp contrast to the Daily Mail headline on Friday which read: ‘GPs told they must provide out-of-hours care’.
